YOUTH ARTS ACADEMY

Our Youth Arts Academy, founded in 1998 has been a haven of beauty, safety and free expression for some 200 youth annually, cultivating global citizens who appreciate the power of the arts and honing the artistic gifts of the next generation of artists. We offer over 40 classes weekly taught afterschool and on Saturdays with an Educational Track and Pre-Professional Track led by dynamic and renowned teaching artists.

ANNUAL STUDENT CONCERT | Water = Life

Our Youth Arts Academy embarks on an ancient journey to the present exploring how water has flowed and shaped the lives of people of African descent across the world. This dynamic presentation is written and directed by award-winning artist Carl Hancock Rux with over 200 student dancers, actors and drummers ages 3 - 18.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

​The education program provides ​a ​safe and expressive space for over 200 youth between the ages of 3 and 18 years old to hone artistic proficiency and develop ​into ​citizens of the world in a world-class artistic environment. The Academy runs for 32-weeks from October-June with summer intensives in July and August. ​Led by ​renowned dancer, instructor and arts administrator, Ronald K. Alexander ​leads a team of instructors who are leading practitioners in their artistic fields and a core curriculum that aligns with the NYC Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM

Restoration Dance Youth Ensemble, led by internationally renowned artists - Ronald K. Brown and Arcell Cabuag - is comprised of dancers ages 14 – 18 with an emphasis on preparing students for college, conservatory and university study through dance. ​The program is held after-school and ​on weekends for 32-weeks from October-June with summer intensives in July and August.

ADOPT AN EMERGING ARTIST

Adopt an emerging dancer, actor or musician with just $42 a month. Our goal is serve over 1,000 emerging artists between the ages of 3 – 18 in Central Brooklyn. Your support provides them instruction in our Youth Arts Academy to study an arts discipline with dynamic and committed arts instructors, opportunities to meet world-class artists, such as Misty Copeland and Wendell Pierce; and performance experiences.
